frequently asked questions

What are bioenzymes?

A 100% natural fruit peel ferment obtained by naturally brewing organic matter( pineapple peels)  for 3 months that becomes a powerful concoction of good bacteria. This liquid is the base of our cleaning products. Depending on the end use of product, this base is deep infused with other ingrediants such as soapnuts, essential oils, gums etc to bring to you a product that can match the utility of modern cleaning. What is different in Forest Lab from your homemade bioenzyme?

It is practically not possible to 100 percent switch to homemade bioenzymes as a home cleaning solution as the liquid doesn't sticks to surface where needed, has a strong fermentation base note, does not lather at all, and may or may not provide germ protection depending on quality and method of brewing.

We bridge the gap for consumers seeking a perfect cleaner by addressing all these shortcomings of a bioenzyme base. Our solution is enriched with abundant soapnuts to reach the saturation point for maximum effectiveness. We also add essential oils for a faint, uplifting scent and natural gums to achieve the right texture for each product. Our vision is to replace every possible chemical in the market with a natural alternative.

Does the laundry liquid work with top load/ front load machine?

Chemical liquids do come in top load and front load variants  as top load ones are designed for using more water( produce a lot of foam) while front load is water conservative. Forest Lab laundry liquid is an extremly fast rinse folmula that produces natural foam from soapnuts and consumes a lot less water. Since the liquid itself is water conservative it works great with both the machine variants / handwashing.

Does the product foam less?

Yes, our products foam less, and that’s actually a good thing! Here’s why:

No Harsh Chemicals:
It’s free from synthetic foaming agents like SLS and SLES, which are known to cause skin irritation, dryness, and allergies. Instead, we use soapnuts (reetha) to create natural foam, giving you just the right amount needed for effective cleaning.

Foam Doesn’t Mean Clean:
High foam is often just for show—what really matters is how well a product breaks down dirt and grease. Our formula with bioenzymes provides powerful cleaning without relying on excess bubbles

Saves Water:
Less foam means less water wasted during rinsing. You’ll get a quick, effective cleaning while being mindful of water use.

Switching to Forest Lab means you’re choosing safety, sustainability, and real cleaning power—without unnecessary foam!

Why is the liquid brown? Will it leave stains?

Raw soapnuts impart a dark brown color to the liquid an indicative of a chemically unprocessed solution. We do not use soapnut extract, or any form of chemical processing that is not driven towards our basic purpose of cleaning.
Absolutely not!, Soapnut infusions won't leave stains. In fact we recommend leaving on the liquid over tough stains to work them out.

Can the Laundry liquid be used in Topload/ Front Load washing machines?

The Laundry liquid is designed to work with both top load and front load machines as well as handwashing your delicates/silks.

How doest it smell?

Bioenzymes smell like wine with a faint note of raw biomass that was used for fermentation( pineapples in our case). We use pure essential oils to supress the pungency and uplift the smell. The essential oil used are carefully chosen for their benifits in the usecase. While a little note of fermentation might feel different during usage, it never persist once rinsed. What stays back is reviving essential oils.

Why reused bottels?

Reuse is one daily affair in our lives that can make a huge impact on market forces and sustainability. Reuse not only curbs the demand for resources, it also increases the useful life of already existing ones. When you buy a reused bottle from us, the money you pay for packaging goes to marginalised communities involved in collection and deep cleaning of already existing bottles, creating employment and prosperity while conserving resources.

How does the formulation kill pathogens?

Apart from the fact that all the ingredients including essential oils and soapnuts have been proven for their antimicrobial properties, it is the bio enzyme that plays pivotal role as the disinfectant in our formulation. Bioenzyme is a complex blend of different enzymes and good microbes that feed on dirt, grime, stains and germs, while former breaking them into smaller molecules to be ingested by the latter.

Do bioenzymes need time to work?

Upon dilution, the microbes get activated its like a warmup to fight better. So while  leaving the stion for 15-20 minutes might help, but practically in all chores there is a resting time involved. For example while doing the dishes there is a resting time involved while you scrub the dishes, similarly while cleaning floors there is a resting time while the job is getting done, and laundry has ample resting time in soaking or in washing machine which is enough for the action.

Do you take bulk orders?

Yes we do! Orders less than 100 liters are processed within 2 days. Quantities more than that might take upto a week.Orders more than 500 litres can take more time depending on brewing stage and time required.
